Toddler looking at the flowers in her garden, with a backdrop of yellow flowers at her home in Gosforth

How to prepare a Toddler for photos

Don't. Well rather don't expect them to be prepared. Don't expect toddlers to do anything really. Toddlers are magical little beings. We follow their lead. Letting them know someone with a cool camera is coming is always wise, let them play around with your own camera or phone if you have one, role play to make it fun and interesting. But on the day of the photoshoot is my job to make myself interesting and fun. Using my experience in childcare and having my own children I know how to put kids at ease. I'll sit back and won't put any demands on your toddler, I might join them for a little play to help them feel comfortable around me and I'd only bring out my camera once they're settled. I won't force a toddler (or any age human) to do anything they don't want to.

Always Connection

Prioritising connection is my utmost goal in the work I do. It shines through in the photos I take. Connection between you and your child, helping them feel relaxed and at ease is the most important thing for me and for the result to be something worth framing

Let's Play

If we struggle during a photoshoot, tell me what their favourite game is and we can help your little one feel a little bit more at ease by getting down to their level and playing a game they love.

It's all about the angles

Using my experience as an Art Director, we can both keep your child happy by letting them hold whatever makes them feel comfortable (even if you don't want it in the photo) and I'll be able to get the right angles.

"Christine has a really special skill of making you feel comfortable the minute you walk into the room. She embraces all the chaos of our home and made it feel warm, happy, supportive, and a little bit magical for the entirety of the shoot!"
