How a Remote Session works

Lighting and Spacing and Positioning

Breathing space, lighting and positioning are monumental in capturing an image that can be edited. Capturing these three things allow us flexibility to make an image your eye can truly appreciate. In remote work the camera person is guided by the photographer to step backwards, forwards, sideways, get down low: to be in the best position to take the shot.

Editing

Every RAW image whether it come from an iphone or professional camera needs to be "processed and developed" and how one handles that process really defines the final look of the photograph. This includes, cropping, retouching, colour grading. My approach is to coax a moment out of an image through a slow intentional process of analysing every corner of the image to draw out something worthy of framing.

Prep

Prepping is very important in a remote session. Understanding the space, whats in a 360 field of vision when it comes to lighting and backdrop, planning where we will be taking the photos. Taking time to talk through the outfits and putting the camera person at ease.

The Practical Stuff

The photographer and the client will both download an app where the photographer for the duration of the Remote "Call" has control over the Camera button and Camera settings on the device. This app will also be the place where the photographer will house all the photos from a shoot, that will be ready for editing.
